The
Grand Canyon :- The Grand Canyon, a place of
magnificent beauty in Arizona is the only one of its
kind in the world. Infact it is a magnet that draws
visitors from all over the world. Visitors can enjoy
this greatest of national parks in a variety of ways
such as by foot, air, river, mule and train. In order
to feast on the natural beauty of the Canyon, in full
spectrum, it is advisable to opt for helicopter and
airplane tours, or go deep into the heart of the Canyon
on a rafting tour.
National
Monuments:- Arizona, the state of legend and
lore, is especially rich in national monuments that
preserve antiquity. In the northeastern region, the
sheer red cliffs and in canyon wall caves of Canyon
de Chelly National Monument are ruins of Indian villages
built between 350 AD and 1300. Shallow caves overlooking
the Tonto Basin, in southeastern Arizona projects masonry
ruins 700 years old, which was infact home to the pre
historic Salado people. Tuzigoot National monuments’
rock walled rooms are situated in the low hills of Mingus
Mountains. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is a
place where three unique desert habitats converge within
500 square miles, celebrates the life and landscape
of the Sonoran Desert.
State
Parks:- Arizona has 27 state parks that provides
the visitors an access to a wide variety of activities.
Some preserve pre historic and historic resources, some
provide recreational options and some offer a glimpse
into the natural world. For fishing, camping, wildlife
viewing and boating, Alamo Lake State Park is the place
to be. One of the world’s largest collections
of arid desert plants including cactus from all over
the world can be found in Boyce Thompson Arboretum State
Park. Wild flowers in the spring, hiking, horseback
riding and scenic views of the north side of Catalinas
can all be seen in Catalina State Park.
Wild
life in Arizona:- Owing to the result of diverse
landscape and climate, Arizona is teeming with wild
life. In the world famous Deer Farm near Williams, visitors
can literally walk among, touch and feed the furry inhabitants.
Wild life is abundantly on display in Sonora Desert
Museum, which houses Gila monsters, humming birds and
the tall slender boojum tree. Big horn sheep can be
found in the desert, while Rocky mountain big horns
can be found in portions of eastern Arizona. One of
the highest concentration of black bears in the nation,
exists in Mazatal Wilderness area.
